Aboriginal culture

An important culture is the folklore passed down from generation to generation.

According to Aboriginal belief, the time period when only Aboriginal people resided in Australia- prior to the invasion of the Europeans is known as Dreamtime. This term is used to describe the mystical time when the Aboriginal people established their world.The Aboriginal Dreamtime is part of the culture that explains the origins of the people and of the land. Dreamtime includes a story of how things have happened, how the universe came to be, how humans were created, and how the Creator intended for humans to function in this world. Essentially, Dreamtime is the Aboriginal Religion and Culture.

 




Sun, sand and waves

With more than 80 per cent of Australians living within 50 kilometres of the coast, the beach has become an integral part of Australia's famous laid-back lifestyle. With it's numerous beaches, famous for its clean, crystal blue waters, golden sand and never ending sunshine, it is no wonder that beach culture is widely present throughout the country. There is nothing more that Australians love more than a good surf.





Friends family, barbecue

Spending time with your family and friends is a big social culture present in Australia. Loyalty and friendship are important values of Australian culture, they are also expected to behave with humility and not think of themselves as better than their peers. Australians also believe in having a fair go and have a strong affection for the underdog or battler. These values stem from convicts and early colonialists who struggled against a harsh and unfamiliar land and often unjust authority.

Food is an essential part to any culture and Australians love to Barbecue it gives them a chance to get together. This strong social culture has made barbecue an aspect of their everyday lives, as such, plenty of BBQ facilities are available in public parks and around beaches, so all you need to do is take your food.



                                                                    
                                                                       Australian Rules Football

Australia has a strong sporting culture, and one of the most popular sport is Australian rules football (usually called "Aussie rules", "AFL" or "footy")  officially known as Australian football. The national competition, the Australian Football League, evolved from a Victorian state competition and has expanded to 16 teams from all states except Tasmania. It is also a popular sport among the indigenous tribes.

The AFL Grand Final, traditionally played each year at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Australian football is a sport rich in tradition and Australian cultural references, especially surrounding the rituals of game day for players, officials and supporters.
